Quakes Get Road Win over Crew! Quake 2 - Crew 0

June 8th 2008

In case you don’t catch the game, our Boys in Blue snagged 3 points in Columbus over the Crew. Both goals came courtesy of two beautiful crosses from Ronnie O’Brien. The first came in the 10th minutes from Ryan Johnson, who timed his run perfectly to get on the end of Ronnie’s cross. This put us up going into the half. The second came from Ramiro Corrales in the 60th min to solidify the lead. The Joe also had an amazing game, shutting out the crew. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come next week when our guys take on The Landy-Beck Traveling Circus (with side show attraction Carlos “the flopping fish” Ruiz). Below I’ve included info regarding the game including the list of approved items that may be brought into the Coliseum. Please note that confetti is no longer allowed for the games held at the Coliseum. (As far as I know this is a Coliseum rule not a EQLLC rule, in case you were wondering.)

Also, please note that our section has changed. You will need to trade in your season tickets for replacement tickets in our new section. If not you’ll get up sitting next to the some Circus Groupies, I mean um…Galaxy Fans. Please follow the directions posted previously or in the e-mail from Anthony Perry.

Ramblings from the old Guy - The incident in Columbus

June 3rd 2008

(fyi: The views expressed here are my own. I am not speaking for the Casbah)

By now you have heard about a Crew “fan” calling Rev’s forward Kheli Dube a n***** from the supporter’s section (if not, read this post by Ives Galarcep). This might have been an isolated incident, but I’m sure it’s not the only one that’s happened. The only reason it got noticed is because it got posted on YouTube (the video has since been removed). Thank you Crew Supporters, The Crew, and MLS for taking the steps to prevent this for happening in the future.

I could go on about systemic racism, and why this person thought it was safe to drop the n-word among a group of American soccer fans…but I won’t.

Instead, I ask a simple solution. If you see it or hear it. Confront it. If you’re too shy, or feel threatened by it, please find someone who will confront it.

Because if you ignore it, you’re just as guilty.

Casbah Section Moved!!! (Oakland Coliseum)

May 30th 2008

See below message from Anthony Perry of the Earthquakes about our section moving to the other side of the stadium near the entrance tunnel.   Please get your tickets traded soon to avoid any issues on game day.

Quakes fan,

By popular request we are moving the Casbah and Ultras seating sections in Oakland.  The new seats will be in Sections 113 and 114.  These sections are closer to field level, provide shade, have better television coverage, and will be next to the players tunnel.  I have already received half of the seats, yet I need the remainder to ensure that you will be sitting in the official Casbah or Ultras section and not with any visiting Galaxy fans.

Please send your remaining 3 Oakland tickets (2 Galaxy Game and the Yellow Bonus Game Ticket) ASAP to:

San Jose Earthquakes

Return of the Quakes!!! (Quakes 2 - Dynamo 1)

May 23rd 2008

Last night the Quakes returned….both those that formally wore the Quakes uniform and the passionate play our those now wearing the uniform.  The Boys in Blue (um…Black) played with heart and tenacity.  Last night our new boys looked to me more like “The Earthquakes” of old than those Quakes in disguise.  Congrads guys, you made us all proud!

After reading some of the interview responses from Dom and some of our former players, it seems some of them were taken back by cheers from the fans.  I’d like to just say to our former Quakes players (and Dom) we all respect your blood, sweat, and tears that you’ve given for us.  You’ve set the bar for what we had come to expect of those wearing the Quakes jersey.  You will never be forgotten (at least to me, despite sloans or chants from some).  However I think we can all agree that it’s time to move forward.  Ultimately the name on the front is more important than the names on the back.

Casbah (Season Ticket) Seat Relocation @ Coliseum

May 6th 2008

All,

The front office has made arrangements to get us closer to the action and into an area where the players can really hear us rock.  See, the message below from Anthony Perry of the Earthquakes.  We will be moving to the other side of the stadium next to the tunnel and away from that blazing sun.  This will be our new location for the remaining games at the Coliseum.  Anthony will be sending the Galaxy fans into our old section so that will be away from the tunnel and without opportunities to throw stuff at our players as they exit the tunnel.  With this move the first thing our Boys in Blue will hear coming onto the field is the Casbah Rockin’ at full volume.

To make the transition you will need to turn in your 3 remaining season tickets and Anthony will send you 3 new tickets for the new section.

-Mel

Dear Casbah member,

The Earthquakes are happy to announce an exciting detail relating to season ticket holders sitting in the Casbah seating this year.  I was able to move the section from above the goal to the opposite side of the field (near where the Chicago fans were).  This will have better visibility for the group, be cooler during the summer, closer to the field, and near the players tunnel.  I need all season ticket holders to send me their 3 remaining game tickets (2 Galaxy and bonus game) ASAP so I can move the Galaxy fans into that section.

Please send your tickets to:

San Jose Earthquakes

At end of each half: Combined We love you Earthquakes (See below)

 Combined Ohhhh…San Jose

(Casbah)              Ohhhh San Jose (drum, drum, pause)

(1906-Ultras)     Ohhhh San Jose (pause)

(Casbah)              Ohhhh San Jose (drum, drum, pause)

(All)                      Oh, oh, Oh, oh, Oh, hey hey hey

Quakes achieve first goal, win, and shutout over Colorado

April 21st 2008

Wow…what a game Satuday! I was extremely proud of how our guys settled into the game and played throughout.  We finally have our first goal for the Quakes by Ronnie O’Brien, and our first shutout by “The Joe”. As well as an awesome first goal for Kei Kamara this season.  Let’s hope our guys keep this positive momentum going into next weekend’s game against New York.

Now, since Ronnie’s score the first goal for our rebirthed San Jose Earthquakes, he deserves he’s own cheer from the Casbah.  Any suggestions?
